Renovation Of The Girls’ Bedroom – Before & Afters

I didn’t want to post this yet cause I still had a few more details to add, but it looks like it will still be a little while before its 100% complete.
They are getting new bedding and some organization items for headbands and necklaces for Christmas, and I still need to make a valence for the window πŸ™‚
Here is what their room looked like before!
(I took these pictures after I had already started pulling stuff out, so excuse the mess!)
All of the pictures start from the door and go to the left in a full circle πŸ™‚
I hated having a dresser in the closet and we and still barely had room in the dressers even though there’s two! (My girls wear uniforms to school and on top of that they have a very large wardrobe…
Not spoiled at all ;p)
I painted the walls, all the furniture (kill me), changed the knobs on the dressers and painted and hung a few things on the walls.
These floating shelves are from Target. Love them, and they were super easy to hang!
In this dresser the girls both have their own ‘junk drawer’, the little middle drawer houses undies, and then the rest (Cambria’s on the left, Gwen’s on the right) are school uniform bottoms in the top, pants, jeans and shorts in the next and all of their skirts in the bottom.
These are the knobs I chose for the dressers!
So cute! I found them on Amazon πŸ™‚
I had plans to paint and hang that chandelier there on the floor, but decided they really need the fan in there. Instead I’d like to get a cute, girly lamp to put on the dresser.
This dresser has all of Cambria’s bathing suites, gymnastic wear and tights that only fit her, in the top drawer. The second one has Gwen’s bathing suits (she has lots cause she’s in swim lessons)
and her tights that only fit her,Β and the bottom drawer is all their leggings,
shorts for under school dresses and under shirts.
That kitty picture in the corner is now hanging on the wall πŸ˜‰
And my favorite part!
I had this shelf sitting somewhere else in the house not being used, and my amazing dad installed it with an extra rail exactly how I wanted it πŸ™‚
Cambria’s clothes are on the left, Gwen’s on the right, tops hang on the top rails
and dresses on the bottom rails.
Those bins are holding (from top left to right, not counting the owls cause those were just temporary), hair items, T-shirts, Cambria’s PJ’s, Gwen’s PJ’s, Cambria’s socks and Gwen’s socks.
We’ve been using this system for a while now and its working PERFECT!
Β I got this mirror at Target and hung it so that they can see their full body from across the room πŸ™‚
I love it so much and can’t wait for it to be completed!
I’ll post another update when it’s done πŸ™‚
Thanks for looking!

Brunnemann’s Halloween 2013 & DIY Costumes

Cambria right away knew what she wanted to be for Halloween… Really, anyone could have guessed that she wanted to be a unicorn, she’s OBSESSED!
I searched and searched on Pinterest for DIY ideas, and finally decided on THISΒ mixed with THIS.
Mind you, the horn and ears were absolutely not as easy as she made them seem!

I knew that I wanted Gwen to be Eloise, because she IS Eloise! Haha
She agreed to it quite quickly πŸ™‚

Here’s how their costumes turned out!

After I got them dressed and took pictures, I had to leave to make a 12 hour drive to get my nephew who is staying with us for a little while, so Cory painted pumpkins with the girls…
(Cory painted half of his for me πŸ™‚ )
Aaaaand of course, before they left for Fall Fest at a church down the street, Gwen and Cambria managed to break Cambria’s horn and ears! :\
Pouty face because she’s upset about it 😦
Luckily, she cheered up a little

Painting Pumpkins – DIY Mantel Decor

I came across this idea on Pinterest that linked to another blog, but I forgot to pin it.
Soooo I have no idea where it came from or else I’d link to it!
Anyway, I really, REALLY suck at painting details,
so I can’t even believe how good these came out!
I bought these little plastic pumpkins at Walmart for $1 a piece,
then went to Michael’s and bought the brushes, white paint and paint markers.
Note that this paint did NOT work. It was kind of a transparent white, and after coating a couple with it, I pulled out some other white acrylic paint I already had… THEN, after coating them once with that, I decided to reread the tutorial and realized she spray painted hers…. I fail.
Luckily, I had some white spray paint on hand πŸ˜‰
This is what they looked like after the second coat of acrylic paint.
I used a pencil do draw out some of the designs before I painted them, and used a mixture of the paint pens and some acrylic black paint depending on what worked best for the detail I was working on πŸ™‚
Love, love, LOVE them!
I wanted these to look a certain way for the mantel in my living room,
but this would even be so much fun to do with the kids!

Teachers Survival Kit

Yesterday I posted about our first day of school, and pictured is the gifts we made for their teachers.
Here’s where I got the idea/tutorial fromΒ eighteen25 – box of teacher goodies
I took the girls to Michael’s and let them pick out the papers and stickers for their boxes.
We got all the items we put inside from Target.
I pretty much followed all of the instructions from the tutorial above, except I used E6000 in 3 spots to hold the ribbon down, let it dry and then used Mod Podge to glue all the sheets of paper on.
I glued the top one on first, then the bottom one and then the middle strip, letting each one dry completely before applying the next.
I had the girls write a little note to their teachers, and then also added a teacher questionnaire printout for them to fill and send back to me so I know a little more about them, which also happens to be from eighteen 25…Β Teacher Questionnaire
Here’s what ours look like
We filled our with thumb tacks, paper clips, magnets, post its,
a USB drive, hand sanitizer and chocolates πŸ™‚
